August word ~ Return

“If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored…”

Job 22:23

For the last three months God has been speaking to me either from the book of Job or about restoration, re-establishment and renewal.

The June word came from Job 23:10. The July word was restoration and it came from Ezekiel 36:24-30 and Ezekiel 37:1-14. The August word is return and you will be restored, from Job 22:23.

An invitation has been sent out from heaven and it’s up to you whether or not you choose to honour it. It’s an invitation to return, return to the Lord.

There are a lot of us who have experienced distance in our relationship and intimacy with God, whether it be due to circumstance and the battles of life or due to our own neglect. The distance is there and there is a deep desire within us to fix it but there is also a hold back asking “but how?”.

God doesn’t want us to worry ourselves about the technicalities. All God cares about are our hearts. Throughout scripture we see how much God has to say about the human heart. It can be the most precious thing, and it can be the most wicked thing but it’s definitely the most important thing.

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Luke 6:45

Theres an invitation, a call, access to bring our hearts back to their maker. You’ve been making it hard for yourself by trying to rationalise God and the way He operates, but no one can. God is Spirit and we are man, His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). He is too mighty for us to comprehend in our limited human minds.

What is clear and comprehendible, is God loves us and He has since the beginning of time and He desires to have a relationship with you. An intimate one, but you need to avail yourself to having it and then commit over and over again to staying in it.

Only you and Him know where it went wrong. Now just return. None of that matters anymore, enough time has passed. Return, with all your burdens, questions and fears. God wants YOU. Return. Come back home, the Father is waiting on you.

Have a blessed August.
